Common questions about the launch
Is Minuta open source?
The desktop app is closed source. Minuta uses cloud AI services for transcription and assistance, plus pyannote for speaker identification. See Trust for the current provider chain.
How is privacy actually enforced?
Audio is captured on your computer and sent to cloud services for transcription and AI. Meeting records are saved in the desktop app; some features use temporary private storage. Account and billing data are also processed. See Trust and the Privacy Policy for the data flow and provider details.
Why not just use Otter or Granola?
Otter and Granola are good cloud notetakers for teams that mainly want a transcript. Minuta is built for the moment you have to answer in a live technical conversation — in English, Portuguese, or Spanish — while the other side is still waiting. Different problem. We'll keep an honest comparison page live.
What's on the roadmap?
Public roadmap: in-app coaching (post-call feedback on your answers), team plan with shared profile, and a CLI for headless transcription. Linux desktop builds are already available. Anything else worth building, you can vote on at the public roadmap. We ship what users ask for, in order.
How does the free tier and Pro trial actually work?
The 7-day trial unlocks every feature with 120 minutes total for the entire trial. After day 7, Free gets a separate allowance of 60 shared minutes for transcription and translation per calendar month, renewed on the 1st (UTC). Transcribing and translating the same audio counts once. Copilot responses, automatic summaries, speaker identification, and personal context require Pro after the trial. Pro includes every feature without usage limits. No automatic charges; no card required.
How fast is setup?
Download the app, sign in, and grant the audio permissions for your platform. Transcription and AI use cloud services, so no AI model downloads are required. An internet connection is needed.
