Captions and translation solve different problems

The Zoom meeting is in English. You speak English, sure — well enough for 1-on-1s, well enough for prepared talks. But this is sprint planning. Two engineers debating a refactor. Three different acronyms per minute. The technical jargon is fine when you read it, but spoken at native speed it slips past. By the time you mentally translate the previous sentence, you've missed the next two.

Native meeting captions can be useful when they are available and configured for your account. Minuta adds a separate live-text workflow: it captures desktop audio, transcribes it in the selected meeting language, and then displays the translation beneath each completed passage.

How to set up live text translation

Configure Minuta before joining the call. The same flow works with Zoom, Teams, Meet, and other desktop audio sources.

    Install and sign in

    Download the desktop app, sign in, and allow the operating-system audio permissions requested by Minuta.

    Set the meeting language

    Choose the language being spoken in the call, or use automatic detection when that fits the conversation.

    Turn translation on

    Enable translation and select the target language before starting the meeting.

    Start the meeting in Minuta

    Start capture, then use Zoom as usual. Minuta listens to desktop audio without joining as a meeting participant.

    Read source and translation together

    As each passage completes, the source transcript appears first and the translated text appears directly below it.

  • This is text translation, not spoken interpretation or replacement audio.
  • Translation follows the source transcript after a passage is processed; connection quality and cloud processing affect how quickly it appears.
  • Names, acronyms, overlapping speakers, and specialist terminology can still need review against the source transcript.
  • Transcription and translation require an internet connection and use the same shared minute allowance on Trial and Free.
